Scale
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup (50g) sugar
- 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup (45g) dark chocolate chips (optional)
- 1 tbsp milk (if needed for dough consistency)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until smooth.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add a tablespoon of milk to bring it together.
- Stir in the chocolate chips if using.
- Roll the dough into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Gently press each ball with a fork or your fingers to flatten slightly.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the biscuits are firm to the touch.
- Let the biscuits cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- You can swap the dark chocolate chips for milk chocolate or white chocolate for a different flavor.
- These biscuits store well in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
- For an extra chocolate boost, drizzle melted chocolate over the cooled biscuits.
