Description
This sweet and savory Donut Grilled Cheese with Bacon & Maple is the ultimate indulgence! Buttery glazed donuts are toasted to golden perfection, sandwiching gooey melted cheese and crispy bacon, all drizzled with rich maple syrup. It’s the perfect mix of sweet, salty, and cheesy goodness!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 glazed donuts, sliced in half horizontally
- 2 slices of cheddar cheese (or American cheese)
- 2 slices of crispy bacon
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
Instructions
- Prepare the donuts – Slice each glazed donut in half like a bagel.
- Layer the fillings – Place a slice of cheese on the bottom half of each donut, followed by two slices of crispy bacon, and then another slice of cheese. Top with the other donut half.
- Butter the outside – Spread softened butter on the outer cut sides of the donuts (not the glazed side).
- Grill the sandwich – Heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Place the sandwiches butter-side down and cook for 2–3 minutes, pressing lightly with a spatula until golden brown and crispy.
- Flip and finish – Flip the sandwich carefully and cook for another 2–3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the donut is golden.
- Drizzle with maple syrup – Remove from heat, drizzle with extra maple syrup, and serve immediately.
Notes
- Try different cheeses like gouda or pepper jack for a twist.
- Add a fried egg for an even more indulgent breakfast sandwich.
- If you prefer a less sweet version, use plain donuts instead of glazed.
