Description

A dog-friendly birthday cake made with wholesome, pup-safe ingredients like peanut butter, applesauce, and oats. Perfect for celebrating your furry friend’s special day!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (or oat flour for grain-free)
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)
  • 2 tbsp honey (optional)
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt or water
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

For Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter

Optional Toppings:

  • Dog treats
  • Shredded carrots
  • Banana slices

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a small cake pan (6-inch round or cupcake tin).
  • Mix dry ingredients – In a bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda.
  • Mix wet ingredients – In another bowl, combine the egg, applesauce, peanut butter, honey, yogurt, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
  • Combine & bake – Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until fully combined. Pour batter into the prepared cake pan.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool completely before frosting.
  • Make the frosting – Mix Greek yogurt and peanut butter until smooth. Spread over the cooled cake.
  • Decorate & serve – Top with dog treats, carrots, or banana slices. Serve in small portions!

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Substitutions: Swap applesauce for mashed banana if preferred.
