Description

This creamy dandelion hot chocolate is a cozy twist on the classic. Roasted dandelion root gives it a rich, earthy flavor that pairs beautifully with dark chocolate and warm milk. It’s caffeine-free, comforting, and makes a unique herbal treat for chilly days or relaxing evenings.

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp roasted dandelion root (loose or tea bag)

  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)

  • 2 tbsp dark chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate

  • 1-2 tsp maple syrup or honey (to taste)

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

  • Whipped cream or marshmallows (optional, for topping)

  • Dandelion petals or cocoa powder (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, bring milk to a gentle simmer.

  2. Add roasted dandelion root. Simmer for 5–7 minutes to steep.

  3. Strain out the dandelion root if using loose herbs. Return milk to the pot.

  4. Add dark chocolate, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt. Whisk until the chocolate is fully melted and the drink is smooth.

  5. Pour into a mug and top with whipped cream or marshmallows, if desired. Garnish with dandelion petals or a dusting of cocoa powder.

Notes

  • Use roasted dandelion root for the best flavor — you can find it in tea form or roast your own.

  • Make it vegan by using plant-based milk and dark chocolate.

  • For a mocha-like twist, add 1 tsp instant coffee or espresso powder.
