These Christmas spiced biscuits are crunchy, aromatic, and full of holiday flavor. They’re easy to make, hold their shape beautifully, and can be decorated with icing for a festive touch.

- For the Biscuits:
- 3/4 cup (170g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150g) brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (60ml) molasses or golden syrup
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups (315g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- For Decorating (Optional):
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk or lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Sprinkles, edible glitter, or colored sugar
Instructions
- Preheat & Prepare Dough:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Make the Biscuit Dough:
- In a large bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until creamy.
- Add molasses (or golden syrup), egg, and vanilla extract, mixing well.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until a stiff dough forms.
- Roll & Cut:
- Lightly flour a surface and roll out dough to about ¼ inch (5mm) thick.
- Use festive cookie cutters (stars, trees, gingerbread men) to cut out shapes.
- Bake the Biscuits:
- Place biscuits on baking sheets, leaving space between them.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
- Let cool on a wire rack before decorating.
- Decorate (Optional):
- Mix powdered sugar, milk (or lemon juice), and vanilla extract to make icing.
- Pipe designs or drizzle over biscuits. Add sprinkles before icing sets.
Notes
- Store biscuits in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
- If you prefer a chewier biscuit, reduce baking time by 1-2 minutes.
- Add orange zest for extra festive flavor!
- For a spiced chocolate version, mix in 2 tablespoons cocoa powder.
