Description

This buttery, sweet, and crunchy crumble topping is perfect for adding texture to your favorite desserts. Made with just a few pantry staples, it comes together in minutes and can be used on fruit crisps, muffins, and more!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cubed

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats (optional, for extra crunch)

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar (light or dark)

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine flour, oats (if using), brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt.

  • Cut in the butter: Add the cold, cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  • Chill (optional): For a crunchier topping, chill the crumble in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes before using.

  • Use as desired: Sprinkle over fruit fillings, muffins, or other desserts before baking.

Notes

  • Make it nutty: Add ¼ cup chopped pecans or almonds for extra texture.

  • Make it gluten-free: Use a gluten-free flour blend in place of all-purpose flour.

  • Make it vegan: Swap the butter for coconut oil or vegan butter.
