Ingredients

Units Scale
  • For the French Toast:
  • 6 large croissants, torn into large pieces
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 8 oz cream cheese, cubed
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • For Topping:
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Maple syrup or honey
  • Extra fresh strawberries

Instructions

  • Prepare the Baking Dish:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Spread half of the croissant pieces evenly in the dish.
  • Add Strawberries and Cream Cheese:
  • Scatter half of the sliced strawberries and cubed cream cheese over the croissants.
  • Layer the remaining croissant pieces, followed by the rest of the strawberries and cream cheese.
  • Make the Custard:
  • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissant layers, pressing down slightly to ensure the bread absorbs the liquid.
  • Bake:
  • Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, until golden brown and set.
  • Serve:
  • Let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar.
  • Serve warm with maple syrup or honey and extra strawberries.

Notes

  • Make-Ahead Option: Assemble the night before, cover, and refrigerate. Bake fresh in the morning.
