Description

This easy Crockpot Cinnamon Applesauce is made with fresh apples, a touch of cinnamon, and a hint of sweetness. It’s the perfect side dish, snack, or topping for oatmeal and pancakes. With just a few ingredients and a slow cooker, you’ll have homemade applesauce that’s better than store-bought!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala), peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the apples – Peel, core, and chop the apples into small chunks.
  • Add to slow cooker – Place the apples in the crockpot and add water, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Stir to combine.
  • Cook – Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours, until the apples are very soft.
  • Mash or blend – Use a potato masher for chunky applesauce or an immersion blender for a smooth consistency.
  • Sweeten (if needed) – Stir in brown sugar and vanilla, if using. Taste and adjust sweetness as desired.
  • Serve warm or chilled – Enjoy fresh or store in the fridge for up to 1 week.

Notes

  • Use a mix of apple varieties for a more complex flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • For extra spice, add a pinch of nutmeg or cloves.
