- 8 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala), peeled, cored, and chopped
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp brown sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the apples – Peel, core, and chop the apples into small chunks.
- Add to slow cooker – Place the apples in the crockpot and add water, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Stir to combine.
- Cook – Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours, until the apples are very soft.
- Mash or blend – Use a potato masher for chunky applesauce or an immersion blender for a smooth consistency.
- Sweeten (if needed) – Stir in brown sugar and vanilla, if using. Taste and adjust sweetness as desired.
- Serve warm or chilled – Enjoy fresh or store in the fridge for up to 1 week.
