Scale
- :
- 1 (6-8 lb) bone-in ham
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup pineapple juice (from the can)
- 1/2 cup Dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- 1 can (20 oz) pineapple rings, drained and juice reserved (for glazing)
- Whole cloves (optional, for studding the ham)
Instructions
- :
- Place the ham in the crock pot, flat side down.
- In a bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, pineapple juice, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, ground cloves, and cinnamon until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
- Pour the glaze over the ham in the crock pot, making sure it is well coated.
- If desired, stud the ham with whole cloves by inserting them into the surface of the ham.
- Arrange the pineapple rings over the ham and pour any remaining pineapple juice from the can over the ham as well.
- Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 4-5 hours or until the ham is heated through and tender.
- Once cooked, remove the ham from the crock pot and transfer to a serving platter. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- For a thicker glaze, pour the juices from the crock pot into a saucepan and simmer over medium heat for 5-10 minutes until it thickens. Drizzle the reduced glaze over the sliced ham.
Notes
- :
- For a slightly tangier glaze, you can add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to the sauce.
- This recipe works best with a bone-in ham for flavor, but you can use a boneless ham if preferred.
- Leftover ham can be used for sandwiches or added to soups and casseroles.
