Description

A deliciously tender and flavorful ham cooked in a crock pot with a sweet and savory glaze made from brown sugar, pineapple, and mustard. This easy recipe is perfect for holidays, family dinners, or any occasion when you want a show-stopping dish with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • :
  • 1 (6-8 lb) bone-in ham
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup pineapple juice (from the can)
  • 1/2 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 can (20 oz) pineapple rings, drained and juice reserved (for glazing)
  • Whole cloves (optional, for studding the ham)

Instructions

  • :
  • Place the ham in the crock pot, flat side down.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, pineapple juice, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, ground cloves, and cinnamon until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
  • Pour the glaze over the ham in the crock pot, making sure it is well coated.
  • If desired, stud the ham with whole cloves by inserting them into the surface of the ham.
  • Arrange the pineapple rings over the ham and pour any remaining pineapple juice from the can over the ham as well.
  • Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 4-5 hours or until the ham is heated through and tender.
  • Once cooked, remove the ham from the crock pot and transfer to a serving platter. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • For a thicker glaze, pour the juices from the crock pot into a saucepan and simmer over medium heat for 5-10 minutes until it thickens. Drizzle the reduced glaze over the sliced ham.

Notes

  • :
  • For a slightly tangier glaze, you can add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to the sauce.
  • This recipe works best with a bone-in ham for flavor, but you can use a boneless ham if preferred.
  • Leftover ham can be used for sandwiches or added to soups and casseroles.
