Scale
- 4 white fish fillets (cod, tilapia, or haddock)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- 4 sandwich buns, toasted
- 1/2 cup tartar sauce
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 4 slices of tomato (optional)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions
- Prepare the coating: Set up three shallow bowls—one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko mixed with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Bread the fish: Dredge each fish fillet in the flour, dip it into the eggs, then coat it with the seasoned panko.
- Fry the fish: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each fillet for about 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy. Drain on a paper towel.
- Assemble the sandwich: Spread tartar sauce on the toasted buns, then layer with lettuce, tomato slices, and crispy fish fillets.
- Serve immediately, with extra lemon juice if desired. Enjoy!
Notes
- For a lighter version, bake the fish at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes or air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes.
- Swap tartar sauce for mayo, spicy aioli, or coleslaw for extra flavor.
- Use brioche buns for a softer, slightly sweet sandwich experience.
