Description

This Creamy Swiss Chicken Bake is a rich and flavorful dish made with tender chicken breasts, melty Swiss cheese, and a creamy sauce topped with crispy breadcrumbs. Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs or crushed Ritz crackers

 

  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

Preheat oven:

 

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Layer the chicken & cheese:

 

Place chicken breasts in the baking dish.

Lay 1-2 slices of Swiss cheese over each piece of chicken.

Make the creamy sauce:

 

In a bowl, mix sour cream, cream of chicken soup, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

Spread the sauce evenly over the chicken and cheese.

Add the crispy topping:

 

In a small bowl, mix breadcrumbs (or crushed Ritz crackers) with melted butter.

Sprinkle evenly over the top.

Bake:

 

Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temp of 165°F/74°C).

If the top starts browning too quickly, loosely cover with foil.

Rest & serve:

 

Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables.

  • Shortcut Tip: Use rotisserie chicken and reduce baking time to 25 minutes.
  • Extra Flavor: Add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan to the breadcrumb topping.
