Description

This Copycat Cheesecake Factory Honey Wheat Bread is a soft, slightly sweet, and hearty bread that’s the perfect side to any meal. It’s made with a combination of whole wheat flour, honey, and a touch of molasses for that signature flavor you love at The Cheesecake Factory. Serve it warm with butter for an irresistible treat!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups warm water (110°F or 45°C)
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Yeast Mixture
  • In a small bowl, combine warm water with active dry yeast and sugar. Stir and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • Stir in honey, molasses, and olive oil to the yeast mixture.
  • Step 2: Make the Dough
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, and salt.
  • Slowly add the wet ingredients (yeast mixture) to the dry ingredients. Stir until the dough begins to come together.
  • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8–10 minutes or until smooth and elastic. You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook for this step.
  • Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  • Step 3: Shape the Dough
  • Punch down the dough to release the air.
  • Divide the dough into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a loaf shape and place them into greased loaf pans.
  • Cover the pans with a towel and let the dough rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Step 4: Bake the Bread
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the loaves for 25–30 minutes, or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  • Remove the loaves from the oven and immediately brush the tops with melted butter.
  • Step 5: Cool & Serve
  • Let the bread cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then remove the loaves from the pans and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Slice and serve warm with butter. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Make sure the water isn’t too hot, as it can kill the yeast. It should be warm to the touch, but not scalding.
  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cinnamon to the dough.
  • You can also freeze the dough after the first rise (before shaping) and bake it later. Just let it thaw and rise before baking.
  • If you don’t have molasses, you can substitute with more honey, but the flavor will be slightly different.
