This tropical twist on a classic margarita combines creamy coconut, tangy blood orange juice, and a splash of tequila for a refreshing cocktail. Perfect for warm evenings, celebrations, or just treating yourself!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) fresh blood orange juice (about 2-3 blood oranges)
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) coconut milk (full fat for creaminess)
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) silver tequila
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) triple sec or Cointreau
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) simple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes
For Garnish:

  • Blood orange slices
  • Lime wedges
  • Toasted coconut flakes (optional)
  • Coarse salt or sugar for rimming

Instructions

  • Prepare the Glasses – Run a lime wedge around the rim of two glasses. Dip in salt, sugar, or toasted coconut flakes for extra flavor.
  • Mix the Margarita – In a cocktail shaker, combine blood orange juice, coconut milk, tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and simple syrup. Add a handful of ice and shake well for about 15 seconds.
  • Serve – Fill prepared glasses with ice and strain the margarita mixture over the ice.

  • Garnish & Enjoy – Top with a blood orange slice and a lime wedge. Optionally, sprinkle a few toasted coconut flakes on top.

Notes

  • For a frozen version, blend all ingredients with ice until smooth.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more simple syrup or honey.

  • Swap tequila for mezcal if you prefer a smoky twist.
