Description

These warm, pillowy mini donuts are coated in a sweet cinnamon-sugar mixture and taste just like the ones from the fair! You can make them fried for a crispy outside or baked for a lighter version. Perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a sweet snack!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • :
  • For the Donuts:
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter (for coating)

Instructions

  • :
  • For Baked Mini Donuts:
  • Preheat oven: Set to 350°F (175°C). Grease a mini donut pan.
  • Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  • Combine wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla.
  • Make the batter: Add wet ingredients to dry and mix until just combined. Do not overmix!
  • Fill the pan: Spoon or pipe the batter into the mini donut molds, filling about ¾ full.
  • Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until donuts are lightly golden and spring back when touched.
  • Coat in cinnamon sugar: While warm, brush donuts with melted butter and roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  • Enjoy! Serve warm for the best flavor.
  • For Fried Mini Donuts:
  • Heat oil: In a deep pan, heat 2 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).
  • Make the batter: Follow the same mixing steps as above.
  • Fry the donuts: Scoop small spoonfuls of batter and carefully drop into the oil. Fry for about 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  • Drain & coat: Remove donuts with a slotted spoon, drain on paper towels, then toss in cinnamon sugar while still warm.

Notes

  • :
  • No mini donut pan? Use a mini muffin pan to make “donut holes.”
  • Want extra crispiness? Double coat with cinnamon sugar for a thicker layer.
  • Add a drizzle of caramel or chocolate for an extra sweet touch!
