  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Cinnamon Coating:
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • For the Glaze (Optional):
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven & Prep Skillet:
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Lightly grease a 10-inch cast-iron skillet with butter or non-stick spray.
  • Make the Biscuit Dough:
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in buttermilk and vanilla until just combined (do not overmix).
  • Shape & Coat the Biscuits:
  • Turn dough onto a floured surface and gently pat it into a ¾-inch thick round.
  • Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out biscuits.
  • In a small bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Dip each biscuit in the mixture, coating all sides, and place them in the skillet.
  • Bake:
  • Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Add Glaze & Serve:
  • In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze.
  • Drizzle over warm biscuits before serving.

Notes

  • No Buttermilk? Substitute with regular milk + 1 teaspoon vinegar or lemon juice.
