Description

Churro French Toast is a fun and indulgent twist on the classic breakfast dish. Golden, crispy French toast coated with a sweet cinnamon sugar mixture, served with syrup and whipped cream. Perfect for special mornings or brunch with a bit of a sweet treat!

Ingredients

Units Scale

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

8 slices thick-cut bread (preferably challah or brioche)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for frying)

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

For Serving:

Maple syrup

Whipped cream (optional)

Fresh fruit (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the egg mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, salt, and ground cinnamon until fully combined.
  2. Prepare the cinnamon sugar: In a shallow bowl or plate, mix together the granulated sugar and cinnamon for the coating. Set aside.
  3. Dip the bread: Heat a griddle or large skillet over medium heat and add a tablespoon of butter to coat. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 5 seconds per side.
  4. Cook the French toast: Place the soaked bread slices on the skillet or griddle and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy. Add more butter to the pan as needed.
  5. Coat with cinnamon sugar: Once the French toast is cooked, immediately roll each slice in the cinnamon sugar mixture, ensuring it’s coated evenly.
  6. Serve: Serve hot with maple syrup, whipped cream, and fresh fruit (if desired).

Notes

You can use gluten-free bread if you need the recipe to be gluten-free.

For an extra decadent touch, add a drizzle of chocolate sauce or caramel syrup on top.

Leftover French toast can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheated in the toaster for a crispy texture.
