Description
These adorable Christmas Tree Rice Krispies Treats are the perfect combination of crispy, gooey, and festive! Made with classic marshmallow treats dyed green and decorated with sprinkles, candy stars, and icing garlands, they’re an easy and fun holiday dessert for all ages.
Ingredients
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Green food coloring
- Mini M&M’s, sprinkles, or candy stars (for decoration)
- White icing or melted white chocolate (for garland effect)
- Pretzel sticks (for tree trunks, optional)
Instructions
-
Melt the marshmallows:
In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir until fully melted and smooth. -
Color the mixture:
Add a few drops of green food coloring and stir until evenly combined. Add more drops for a deeper green if desired. -
Mix in the cereal:
Remove the pot from heat and quickly stir in the Rice Krispies cereal until fully coated. -
Shape the trees:
While the mixture is still warm, form cone-shaped trees with your hands (greasing your hands with butter or non-stick spray helps). You can also use a Christmas tree-shaped cookie cutter for uniform shapes. -
Decorate:
Press pretzel sticks into the bottom for tree trunks if using. Use white icing or melted chocolate to create garlands and decorate with sprinkles, mini M&M’s, or candy stars. -
Set:
Let the treats cool on wax paper until firm, about 30 minutes.
Notes
- To make shaping easier, lightly grease your hands or use wax paper to press the mixture into molds.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
