Description

Christmas Reindeer “Crack” is a deliciously addictive holiday treat made with a sweet and salty combination of crackers, caramel, chocolate, and festive toppings. It’s called “crack” because it’s hard to stop eating once you start! This treat is perfect for holiday parties, gifting, or snacking while watching Christmas movies.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 40 saltine crackers (or Ritz crackers, pretzels, or graham crackers)
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar, packed
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup (85g) red & green M&M’s (for a festive “reindeer” touch)
  • 1/2 cup (50g) chopped pecans or peanuts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup (40g) crushed candy canes (optional)

  • Holiday sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

Prep the Baking Sheet

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Spray lightly with non-stick spray.
  3. Arrange the crackers in a single layer, covering the entire baking sheet.

2. Make the Caramel

  1. In a small saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  2. Bring to a gentle boil and cook for 3-4 minutes, until the mixture is thickened and caramel-like.
  3. Pour the hot caramel over the crackers, spreading evenly with a spatula.

3. Bake & Add Chocolate

  1. Bake for 5 minutes, until the caramel is bubbling.
  2. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot caramel.
  3. Let sit for 2-3 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate evenly with a spatula.

4. Add Toppings & Chill

  1. Sprinkle M&M’s, nuts, crushed candy canes, and holiday sprinkles over the melted chocolate.
  2. Let the tray cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, then transfer to the refrigerator for 1 hour to set.

5. Break Into Pieces & Enjoy!

  1. Once fully set, break into bite-sized pieces and serve. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

Notes

  • Use pretzels instead of crackers for a saltier crunch!
  • Swap the chocolate – Try white chocolate or dark chocolate for variety.
  • Make it extra festive by drizzling melted white chocolate over the top.

  • Perfect for gifting! Pack in holiday tins or bags for a delicious homemade present
