Ingredients

  • For the Banana Bread:
  • 3 ripe bananas (mashed)
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • For the Peanut Butter Swirl (Optional):
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter (melted)
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat & Prepare:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  • Mix Wet Ingredients:
  • In a large bowl, mash the bananas.
  • Add peanut butter, melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients:
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  • Mix the Batter:
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Swirl in Peanut Butter (Optional):
  • If adding a peanut butter swirl, mix the melted peanut butter with powdered sugar.
  • Pour half the batter into the loaf pan, drizzle half of the peanut butter mixture, then repeat with remaining batter and peanut butter.
  • Use a knife or toothpick to gently swirl.
  • Bake the Bread:
  • Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Slice & Enjoy!

Notes

  • Swap peanut butter for almond butter or sunflower seed butter for a different flavor.
  • Make it extra chocolatey by adding more chocolate chips on top before baking.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 3 days or freeze slices for later!
