Description

This easy, cheesy, and comforting casserole takes classic chili cheese dogs and turns them into a baked dish the whole family will love. Perfect for game nights or weeknight dinners!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • For the Casserole:
  • 1 (8 oz) can refrigerated crescent roll dough (or biscuit dough)
  • 6 hot dogs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 cups chili (homemade or canned, with or without beans)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional, for extra cheesiness)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • For Topping:
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)
  • 1/4 cup diced jalapeños (optional, for a spicy kick)
  • 1/4 cup crushed tortilla chips or crispy fried onions (optional, for crunch)

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Set oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Layer the Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough and press it into the bottom of the baking dish to form a crust.
  • Add the Hot Dogs: Evenly spread the sliced hot dogs over the dough.
  • Pour the Chili: Spoon the chili over the hot dogs, spreading evenly.
  • Cheese it Up: Sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the chili.
  • Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the crust is golden brown.
  • Top & Serve: Garnish with green onions, jalapeños, or crushed tortilla chips for extra flavor. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Spice it up: Add a dash of hot sauce or chili powder to the chili for more heat.
  • Make it meatier: Use beef franks or smoked sausages for a richer flavor.
  • Kid-friendly option: Use mild cheddar and skip the spicy toppings.
  • Storage: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
