For the Burgers:
1 pound (450g) ground chicken
1 ripe avocado, mashed
1/4 cup (25g) breadcrumbs (or almond flour for low-carb)
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 tablespoon chopped cilantro (optional)
For Serving:
4 burger buns (or lettuce wraps for a low-carb option)
Sliced tomato
Lettuce
Sliced red onion
Mayonnaise or chipotle mayo
Instructions
-
Prepare the Burger Mixture – In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, mashed avocado, breadcrumbs, garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, onion powder, lime juice, and cilantro. Mix gently until just combined.
-
Form Patties – Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into burger patties. Place on a plate and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes (this helps them hold their shape).
-
Cook the Burgers –
- Stovetop: Heat a lightly oiled skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Grill: Preheat the grill to medium heat and lightly oil the grates. Grill for about 5 minutes per side, or until fully cooked.
-
Assemble the Burgers – Toast the buns if desired, then layer with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and the cooked chicken avocado patties. Add a spread of mayo or chipotle mayo for extra flavor.
-
Serve & Enjoy!
Notes
- Make it spicy by adding ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper or chopped jalapeños.
- For extra juiciness, use a mix of ground chicken thigh and breast.
- Swap the buns for lettuce wraps to keep it keto-friendly.
