- 1 lb smoked sausage (kielbasa or andouille), sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 head green cabbage, chopped
- 4 cups chicken broth (low sodium)
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Sauté the Sausage & Veggies:
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add sliced smoked sausage and cook for 3–4 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pot, sauté onion and garlic for 2 minutes, until fragrant.
- Cook the Cabbage:
- Add chopped cabbage to the pot and stir well.
- Pour in the chicken broth, then add smoked paprika, thyme, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Bring to a simmer and let cook for 15–20 minutes, until cabbage is tender.
- Make it Creamy & Cheesy:
- Stir in cream cheese and heavy cream, mixing until smooth.
- Add back the sausage and simmer for another 5 minutes.
- Stir in the cheddar and mozzarella cheese, mixing until melted and creamy.
- Serve & Enjoy:
- Ladle into bowls and garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes
- Spicy Version: Use andouille sausage and extra red pepper flakes for heat.
- Extra Creamy: Add more heavy cream or another ounce of cream cheese.
