Description

This Carrabba’s-style Bread Dipping Oil is a perfect blend of herbs, spices, and olive oil that transforms any bread into a restaurant-worthy appetizer. Pair it with warm crusty bread for an easy, elegant starter or snack!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic (or garlic powder)
  • 1 teaspoon granulated onion (or onion powder)
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground sage
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed fennel seeds (optional, but adds authentic flavor)
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for added richness)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Spice Blend:
    • In a small bowl, mix together the oregano, basil, rosemary, parsley, garlic, onion, red pepper flakes, salt, black pepper, thyme, sage, and fennel seeds.
  2. Assemble the Dipping Oil:
    • Place 1-2 teaspoons of the spice blend on a small plate or shallow dish.
    • Pour extra virgin olive oil over the spices.
    • If using Parmesan cheese, sprinkle it on top for extra flavor.
  3. Serve & Enjoy:
    • Serve immediately with warm, crusty bread such as a baguette or ciabatta.
    • Stir the oil mixture before dipping to evenly distribute the herbs and spices.

Notes

  • Store the dry spice mix in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
  • Add balsamic vinegar for a tangy twist.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste—more red pepper for spice or extra garlic for boldness
