Description

These Butter Swim Biscuits are the easiest homemade biscuits ever! They’re incredibly soft inside with a buttery, crisp crust. No rolling or cutting—just mix, pour, and bake!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  • Melt the butter in a microwave-safe dish, then pour it into an 8×8-inch (or 9×9-inch) baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add the buttermilk to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The batter will be sticky and thick.
  • Pour the dough into the baking dish directly over the melted butter. Use a spatula to spread it evenly.
  • Score the dough into 9 squares using a knife (this will make cutting easier after baking).
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

  • Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

  • If you don’t have buttermilk, mix 2 cups of milk with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice or vinegar. Let sit for 5 minutes before using.
  • These biscuits are perfect with honey, jam, or sausage gravy!

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
