Description

These Bunny Rolls are soft, buttery dinner rolls shaped like cute little bunnies! They’re perfect for Easter gatherings and can be served as a side dish or even as a sweet roll with honey butter or jam.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • For the Dough:
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg
  • For Decoration:
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for brushing)
  • Black sesame seeds or mini chocolate chips (for bunny eyes)

Instructions

  • Activate the Yeast:
  • In a small bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • Make the Dough:
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  • Add the melted butter, egg, and yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Shape the Bunny Rolls:
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  • Roll each piece into a ball (this will be the bunny’s body).
  • Take a small pinch of dough from each ball to form a tiny tail.
  • For ears: Use scissors to snip two small cuts on top of each ball, then gently pull the tips to form bunny ears.
  • Second Rise:
  • Place the shaped rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Bake the Rolls:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Brush the rolls lightly with milk.
  • Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Add Eyes & Serve:
  • Once cooled, press sesame seeds or mini chocolate chips into the dough to make bunny eyes.
  • Serve warm with butter or honey!

Notes

  • For a sweeter version, brush the baked rolls with honey butter.
  • For a shortcut, use store-bought crescent roll dough and shape them into bunnies.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 2–3 days or freeze for later.
