- For the Dough:
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 large egg
- For Decoration:
- 2 tablespoons milk (for brushing)
- Black sesame seeds or mini chocolate chips (for bunny eyes)
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast:
- In a small bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Make the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
- Add the melted butter, egg, and yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Shape the Bunny Rolls:
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a ball (this will be the bunny’s body).
- Take a small pinch of dough from each ball to form a tiny tail.
- For ears: Use scissors to snip two small cuts on top of each ball, then gently pull the tips to form bunny ears.
- Second Rise:
- Place the shaped rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake the Rolls:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brush the rolls lightly with milk.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Add Eyes & Serve:
- Once cooled, press sesame seeds or mini chocolate chips into the dough to make bunny eyes.
- Serve warm with butter or honey!
Notes
- For a sweeter version, brush the baked rolls with honey butter.
- For a shortcut, use store-bought crescent roll dough and shape them into bunnies.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 2–3 days or freeze for later.
