For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups (250g) powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp heavy cream (if needed for consistency)

Instructions

For the Brownies:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Mix batter: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips (if using).
  6. Bake: Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
