Description

These spiced nuts from Bobby Flay are the perfect mix of sweet, salty, and spicy. Coated in warm spices and baked until crisp, they’re an easy snack for parties, holiday gifts, or just munching by the handful. They come together quickly and make your whole kitchen smell amazing.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mixed nuts (such as almonds, pecans, cashews, walnuts)

  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together brown sugar, maple syrup, olive oil, cinnamon, cumin, cayenne, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

  3. Add the nuts and toss until they’re evenly coated with the spice mixture.

  4. Spread the nuts out on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer.

  5. Bake for 15–18 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until golden and fragrant.

  6. Remove from the oven and let them cool completely. The nuts will crisp up as they cool.

  7. Once cooled, break apart any clumps and store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Feel free to use your favorite combination of nuts.

  • Adjust the cayenne pepper to your spice preference.

  • These nuts make great holiday gifts or snack board additions.

  • Store in a sealed container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
