Description

This Blackstone French Toast is golden, buttery, and cooked to perfection right on the griddle. With crispy edges and a soft, custardy center, it’s the perfect way to start the morning—especially when you’re cooking for a group. Serve it with warm syrup, fresh fruit, or powdered sugar for a breakfast that never disappoints.

Ingredients

Units Scale

8 slices thick bread (brioche, Texas toast, challah, or French bread work great)

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1/2 cup heavy cream (or more milk)

1 tbsp sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Pinch of salt

Butter or oil, for greasing the griddle

Optional toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries, whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your Blackstone griddle: Set to medium heat and allow it to come to temp. Lightly grease with butter or oil.

  2. Make the custard: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

  3. Dip the bread: Dip each slice of bread into the custard mixture for a few seconds per side, allowing it to soak without becoming soggy.

  4. Griddle the toast: Place dipped bread onto the hot, greased griddle. Cook for 2–4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  5. Serve: Remove from griddle and serve warm with your favorite toppings like syrup, fruit, or a dusting of powdered sugar.

Notes

  • For best results, use slightly stale or day-old bread so it holds up to the custard.

  • Keep cooked slices warm in a low oven (200°F) while finishing the batch.

  • Great for batch cooking—make extra and freeze slices for easy breakfasts later.
