Description

This Beef & Parmesan Tortellini dish is a cozy pasta dinner made with savory ground beef, cheesy tortellini, and a creamy Parmesan sauce. It’s a one-pan, family-friendly recipe that comes together quickly and delivers big flavor with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 (20 oz) package refrigerated or frozen cheese tortellini

  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes

  • 1/2 cup beef broth

  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream or half-and-half

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus extra for serving)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (if needed)

  • Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Brown the Beef:
In a large skillet or sauté pan, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess grease if needed.

  • Add Garlic and Seasonings:
Stir in garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

  • Add Sauce & Tortellini:
Add tomato sauce and beef broth. Stir in tortellini, bring to a simmer, and cover. Cook for about 7–9 minutes (or per tortellini package directions), until pasta is tender and heated through.

  • Finish with Cream & Cheese:
Reduce heat to low. Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese until melted and sauce is creamy. Simmer uncovered for another 2–3 minutes until thickened slightly.

  • Serve:
Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and additional Parmesan. Serve hot with garlic bread or a green salad.

Notes

For extra richness, add a splash more cream or top with shredded mozzarella and broil until bubbly.

You can swap in Italian sausage or ground turkey instead of beef.

Use refrigerated tortellini for faster cooking; frozen may require a few extra minutes.
