Description

Baked Shrimp Toast is a delightful appetizer featuring a creamy shrimp mixture spread over crispy baguette slices. This easy-to-make dish combines tender shrimp, aromatic vegetables, and melted cheese for a savory treat that’s perfect for gatherings or as a snack


Ingredients

  • 1 small French baguette, cut into 1/2-inch thick slices
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled, deveined, and minced
  • 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/41/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, cut into small cubes
  • 1/4 cup shaved Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup shaved Fontina cheese
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced, for garnish

Instructions

  • oast the Baguette Slices:

    • Preheat the broiler on low.
    • Arrange the baguette slices in a single layer on a baking sheet.
    • Broil for 3–5 minutes per side, or until lightly browned. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.
  • Prepare the Shrimp Mixture:

    • In a skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil.
    • Add the minced shrimp, chopped onion, and celery. Cook for about 1 minute, stirring frequently.
    • Stir in the minced garlic, Cajun seasoning, and black pepper. Continue cooking for another minute, stirring constantly.
    • Reduce the heat to low. Add the cream cheese, Parmesan, and Fontina. Stir until the cheeses are melted and the mixture is well combined.
    • Taste and season with kosher salt as needed.
  • Assemble and Bake:

    • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Spread the shrimp mixture evenly over the toasted baguette slices.
    • Sprinkle each slice with crushed red pepper flakes.
    • Place the assembled toasts back onto the baking sheet.
    • Bake for about 10 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and bubbly.
  • Garnish and Serve:

    • Remove from the oven and garnish with sliced green onions
    • Serve immediately while hot.

  • For a spicier kick, adjust the amount of Cajun seasoning and crushed red pepper flakes to your preference.
