- Butter or oil, for frying
Instructions
- 1. Prepare the Dough
- If using fresh potatoes, peel, boil, and mash them until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- In a bowl, mix the mashed potatoes, flour, melted butter, salt, and baking powder until a soft dough forms.
- 2. Shape the Farls
- Lightly flour a clean surface and roll the dough into a ½-inch (1 cm) thick circle.
- Cut into four equal triangles (farls).
- 3. Cook the Farls
- Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a little butter or oil.
- Cook each farl for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and slightly crispy.
- 4. Serve & Enjoy
- Serve warm with butter, jam, eggs, bacon, or smoked salmon.
