Ingredients

Units Scale
  • :
  • For the Fritter Batter:
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • For Frying:
  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • :
  • Prepare the batter: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • Mix wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter.
  • Combine: Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined. Stir in the diced apples.
  • Heat the oil: In a deep skillet or saucepan, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry the fritters: Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, drop 1 tablespoon of batter into the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  • Make the glaze: In a bowl, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Glaze & serve: Drizzle the warm fritter bites with the glaze and enjoy!

Notes

  • :
  • For air frying: Brush with melted butter and air fry at 375°F for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Add crunch by mixing chopped pecans or walnuts into the batter.
  • Storage: Best eaten fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven at 300°F for 5 minutes.
