Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 cup raisins (optional)

Instructions

  • Mix Dry Ingredients:

  • Cream Butter and Sugars:

    • In a large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add Eggs and Applesauce:

    • Add the eggs one at a time to the butter-sugar mixture, beating well after each addition.
    • Mix in the applesauce until well combined.
  • Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:

    • Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed or stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix. All That’s Left Are The Crumbs
  • Incorporate Nuts and Raisins:

    • Fold in the chopped nuts and raisins, if using, until evenly distributed.
  • Bake the Cake:

    • Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  • Cool and Serve:

    • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes.
    • Then, invert it onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a slightly different flavor, you can substitute the raisins with dried cranberries or chopped dates.
  • This cake pairs wonderfully with a dusting of powdered sugar or a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and milk.

  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days
