Description

Alabama White BBQ Sauce is a zesty, tangy, and creamy barbecue sauce made with a mayo base, vinegar, and bold spices. Originally made famous by Big Bob Gibson’s Bar-B-Q, this Southern classic is perfect for grilled or smoked chicken, pork, or as a flavorful dipping sauce and slaw dressing.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise

  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp prepared horseradish (creamy or regular)

  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

  • Salt, to taste (start with 1/4 tsp)

Instructions

Whisk the sauce: In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients. Whisk until smooth and creamy.

Taste and adjust: Adjust seasoning to your preference — more vinegar for tang, more horseradish for kick, or a pinch of sugar if you want to tone down the acidity.

Chill: For best flavor, refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.

Serve: Use as a sauce for grilled chicken, smoked wings, pulled pork, burgers, or even as a salad or slaw dressing.

Notes

  • This sauce is best served cool or at room temperature—don’t heat it!

  • Great as a dipping sauce for fries, onion rings, or grilled veggies.

  • Make it thinner with a splash of water or vinegar if using as a drizzle.
