Description

These rich and indulgent 5-Ingredient Amaretto Truffles are the perfect bite-sized treat, combining smooth dark chocolate with the sweet, nutty flavor of amaretto liqueur. They’re incredibly easy to make, requiring just a handful of ingredients, and are perfect for gifting, parties, or a decadent personal treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8 oz (225 g) dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons amaretto liqueur
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened (optional for extra creaminess)
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder, finely chopped almonds, or powdered sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Place the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer (don’t let it boil).
  3. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit for 2–3 minutes to soften the chocolate.
  4. Stir gently until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  5. Add the amaretto liqueur (and butter, if using) and stir until fully incorporated.
  6. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for 1–2 hours, or until firm enough to scoop.
  7. Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, scoop out small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls with your hands.
  8. Roll each truffle in cocoa powder, chopped almonds, or powdered sugar to coat.
  9. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Bring to room temperature before enjoying for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For an extra crunch, fold in finely chopped almonds before chilling the mixture.
  • You can swap amaretto with other liqueurs like Frangelico, Kahlua, or Baileys for different flavor variations.
  • Truffles will keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or can be frozen for longer storage.
