Description

This Quick & Easy Wonton Soup is a comforting and flavorful dish made with store-bought or homemade wontons in a savory, aromatic broth. It’s ready in just 20 minutes, making it perfect for a busy weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Soup:

  • 4 cups chicken broth (low sodium)
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, sliced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper (optional)
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 cup baby bok choy (or spinach), chopped
  • 1215 frozen or fresh wontons

For Garnish:

  • Green onions, sliced
  • Cilantro, chopped
  • Chili oil (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Broth – In a medium pot, bring chicken broth and water to a boil. Add garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and white pepper. Let it simmer for 5 minutes to develop flavor.
  • Cook the Wontons – Add the wontons to the broth and let them cook according to package instructions, usually 3-5 minutes, or until they float.
  • Add Greens – Stir in the bok choy and let it cook for 1-2 minutes until tender.
  • Serve – Remove ginger slices if desired. Ladle the soup into bowls, then top with green onions, cilantro, and a drizzle of chili oil if using. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Wontons – You can use frozen or fresh wontons. Pork, chicken, or shrimp wontons work well.
  • Make it heartier – Add cooked noodles or extra vegetables like mushrooms or carrots.
  • Spice it up – A splash of chili oil or sriracha adds heat!
