These 10 easy and healthy chicken marinades add delicious flavor and keep your chicken juicy! Perfect for grilling, baking, or meal prep. Each recipe makes enough marinade for 1 lb of chicken (about 2-3 chicken breasts or 4 thighs).

1. Lemon Herb Marinade (Fresh & Light)

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Pairs well with: Salads, roasted veggies


2. Honey Garlic Marinade (Sweet & Savory)

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or coconut aminos for gluten-free)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Pairs well with: Rice, stir-fried veggies


3. Greek Yogurt Marinade (Creamy & Tenderizing)

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried dill
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Pairs well with: Pita bread, cucumber salad


4. Teriyaki Marinade (Asian-Inspired)

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

7. Mediterranean Marinade (Bright & Flavorful)

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Pairs well with: Grilled zucchini, couscous


8. Coconut Lime Marinade (Tropical & Fresh)

  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Pairs well with: Jasmine rice, mango salsa


9. Mustard Herb Marinade (Tangy & Savory)

  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Pairs well with: Roasted potatoes, steamed greens


10. BBQ Marinade (Smoky & Sweet)

  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Pairs well with: Corn on the cob, baked beans


Instructions

How to Use the Marinades

  1. Combine ingredients in a bowl or zip-top bag.
  2. Add chicken and coat evenly.
  3. Marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 24 hours for deeper flavor).
  4. Cook as desired:
    • Grill: 5-7 minutes per side at medium heat.
    • Bake: 400°F for 20-25 minutes.
    • Sauté: 5-7 minutes per side over medium heat.
    • Air Fry: 380°F for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway.

Notes

For extra tenderness, marinate overnight (especially for lean chicken breasts).
Don’t reuse leftover marinade unless you boil it for a few minutes first.
Use a zip-top bag or airtight container to coat the chicken evenly.
Bake or grill extra chicken for meal prep throughout the week!
